Bratislava, 17 August (TASR) - Slovakia generated some 14,727 gigawatt hours (GWh) of electricity and consumed some 13,841 GWh of electricity in the first half of this year, which is a decrease in generation and an increase in consumption when compared to the same period of last year, according to data published by the Slovak Electricity Transmission Network (SEPS) on Monday. The volume of exported electricity thus decreased by more than 53 percent year-on-year (y-o-y). Electricity production fell by some 4.75 percent y-o-y, while consumption rose by some 2 percent from last year's 13,562 GWh. This caused a decrease in the volume of exported electricity from last year's 1,899 GWh to 886 GWh this year. In the January-June period, the highest share of Slovakia's electricity exports, namely 6,759 GWh, went to Hungary, while 1,708 GWh went to Ukraine. Meanwhile, Slovakia reported the highest electricity imports from the Czech Republic (more than 4,787 GWh) in the first half of the year. Electricity imports from Poland amounted to 2,784 GWh. ko/df
