SNS Sees Trump-Putin Meeting as Opportunity for Peace in Ukraine

Bratislava, 16 August (TASR) - The meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin is an opportunity for peace in Ukraine, the junior coalition Slovak National Party (SNS) stated in response to the Trump-Putin talks on Friday (15 August), adding that Europe cannot remain "on the sidelines" in the course of further diplomatic negotiations. "In an ideal format, the European countries and Russia would be directly involved to ensure that Eastern EU countries, including Slovakia, are not left out," SNS added. Trump and Putin met in Alaska on Friday (15 August) to discuss the war in Ukraine and the possible ways of ending it. On Saturday, Trump informed Zelenskyy about the results of his meeting with Putin. jrg/ko
