Bratislava, August 13 (TASR) - The Nurses and Midwives Trade Union (OZSaPA) welcomes the scrapping of the ambulance service tender, however, according to them, a fundamental systemic change of the emergency medical service is necessary, TASR was told on Wednesday by association head Monika Kavecka, who called on governing politicians and responsible institutions not to move the discussion only to the preparation of a new tender with subtle adjustments.
"OZSaPA welcomes the final cancellation of the non-transparent tender for the operation of the ambulance service worth €2 billion. We consider this step to be right and reasonable, especially in the light of the last days, when several serious and untenable suspicions have surfaced," said Kavecka.
The nurses and midwives union head also stressed that announcing a new tender alone wouldn't solve the problem. According to her, the current system doesn't always prioritise the needs of the patient and creates room for business interests.
