HaZZ: Firefighters Responding to Wildfire near Likavka

Likavka, 13 August (TASR) - Firefighters are responding to a forest fire in the area of the village of Likavka near Ruzomberok (Zilina region) on Wednesday morning, TASR was told by Maria Pohankova Zahatlanova, a spokesperson with the Regional Directorate of the Fire and Rescue Corps (HaZZ) in Zilina. She added that the fire has affected an area under the fifth degree of nature protection. "The fire broke out in terrain which is difficult to access, with a refilling point set up for firefighters in the village of Valaska Dubova," she added. The Slovak armed forces have reported on social media that they had deployed a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter with a Bambi bucket to assist the firefighters in extinguishing the fire. jrg/df/ko
