Stats: Employment Grew in Yearly Terms in Half of Monitored Sectors in June

Bratislava, 12 August (TASR) - Employment rose year-on-year (y-o-y) in five of the ten monitored sectors of Slovakia's economy in June 2025, the Statistics Office reported on Tuesday. Employment in accommodation rose by 3.1 percent, while in restaurants and pubs it increased by 1.1 percent. Slight increases of up to 0.6 percent were posted in wholesale, in retail, and in sales of vehicles including their repairs. Conversely, employment declined in five sectors, with the drops ranging from 0.2 percent in the construction sector up to 2.3 percent in transport and warehousing. In the first six months of 2025, employment grew y-o-y in four sectors, with the changes ranging between -2.4 percent in transport to 2.4 percent in accommodation. am/df
