Stats: Salary Growth Outpaced Inflation in Almost All Sectors in June

Bratislava, 12 August (TASR) - The average nominal monthly salary increased year-on-year (y-o-y) in June in all sectors monitored on a monthly basis, the Statistics Office reported on Tuesday. The salary growth ranged from 2.7 percent in selected market services to 12.4 percent in industry. Apart from in selected market services, salaries grew faster than inflation in all sectors. Up to half of the sectors recorded nominal salary increases exceeding 7 percent. Only industry posted double-digit growth, the fastest salary rise in this sector since March 2024. Nine out of ten industries recorded real year-on-year salary growth (adjusted for inflation). The most dynamic was in industry at 7.8 percent, with real salary growth above 3 percent also achieved in sales, including motor vehicle repairs, in construction, and in restaurants and pubs. In contrast, only selected market services experienced a real decline of 1.5 percent. In a comparison of nominal salaries, workers in the information and communications sector earned the most, with an average salary of €2,674 per month. The lowest average salaries were earned by workers in restaurants and pubs (€818). In June, average salaries of between €1,000 and €1,500 were paid to employees in accommodation, in retail, in construction, and in transport and warehousing. Other sectors, namely selected market services, motor vehicle sales and repair, industry and wholesale, reported average salaries ranging from €1,501 to €2,000. In the first six months of 2025, meanwhile, salaries increased y-o-y in nominal terms across all ten monitored sectors, and in real terms in nine of them. Real salary growth ranged from 0.1 percent in warehousing to 4.3 percent in accommodation as well as in restaurants and pubs.
