Rasi: We Remember Today All Men Who Lost Their Lives Underground

Handlova, 10 August (TASR) - We commemorate today not only the biggest mining tragedy in the Handlova Mine (Trencin region) in 2009, in which nine miners and 11 mine rescuers died; we remember all the men, fathers and grandfathers who lost the most precious thing they had, their lives, deep underground, Parliamentary Chair Richard Rasi (Voice-SD) said on Sunday on the occasion of Mining Accidents Victims Day, also known as White Rose Day. "I bow with deep respect to all those who descend hundreds of metres underground every day, putting their lives on the line and making sacrifices at the expense of their own health. Their courage and perseverance deserve our gratitude and respect," said Rasi. The House chair added that the white rose is a silent symbol of respect and remembrance for those who never returned home. am
