Suspect Identified in Dunajska Streda Shop Fire Thanks to CCTV

Dunajska Streda, 8 August (TASR) – Police have identified a man suspected of starting Thursday’s (7 August) fire at a shopping centre in Dunajska Streda, thanks to CCTV footage and a criminal investigation has been launched for the offence of property damage, spokesperson for the Trnava regional police Veronika Dachova said on Friday. „In the afternoon, a man entered one of the shops and, by a yet undetermined method, set fire to a men’s shirt. The resulting fire damaged goods and caused material damage,” Dachova explained, adding that the situation required an immediate evacuation of the entire shopping centre. Once the fire was extinguished, all shops resumed operation except for the one affected by the blaze. „There were no injuries reported during the fire or evacuation. The estimated damage amounts to €20,000,” the spokesperson added. mf
