Bratislava, 8 August (TASR) - The Environment Ministry discussed all the proposals for national park zoning with officials of the European Commission (EC) Representation in Slovakia on Thursday (7 August), Environment Ministry State Secretary Filip Kuffa has posted on a social network, adding that the meeting took place in the Tatra National Park (TANAP). "The Commission representatives were also presented with the current documents, which we presented to the general public at a press conference earlier this week. The discussion was carried out in a matter-of-fact, professional manner and with respect for the natural value and needs of the region," stated Kuffa. According to the state secretary, the goal remains to find a functional and sustainable care model that will respect the specifics of the territory, owners, and involve local communities in nature protection, while also meeting the requirements of legislation and the milestones of the recovery plan. Kuffa earlier this week announced that the zoning proposals for all national parks have already been submitted. In line with its zoning proposal, 50 percent of the TANAP should be included in the most highly protected zone. The comments procedure on the Mala Fatra National Park's zoning proposal was completed at the respective district office a few days ago. The zoning proposal for the Poloniny National Park has been submitted to the ministry, which is currently processing it, said Kuffa, who believes the proposals will be approved by the end of December. ko/mcs
