Cadca, 8 August (TASR) - The tender for the construction of the Oscadnica-Cadca, Bukov D3-motorway section has finally ended, with the northern section of the Kysuce D3 to be built for €230 million excl. VAT by the Osc-Ca Association comprising Vahostav, Metrostav DS and Hungarian company Duna Aszfalt, the Transport Ministry's communications department informed TASR on Friday.
"As the estimated value of the contract was €306 million, the savings are really huge. I'm glad the tender is now over, it's great news for the whole of Slovakia and especially for the Kysuce area," said Transport Minister Jozef Raz (a Smer-SD nominee).
The public procurement procedure has been completed after the Public Procurement Office rejected an objection from an unsuccessful bidder, thereby confirming the result.
The section between Oscadnica and Cadca, Bukov will be 5.3 kilometres long, including the Horelica tunnel of over 600 metres in length. It will also feature 21 bridges, more than five kilometres of noise barriers, a migration corridor for animals, a new motorway maintenance centre and the large Oscadnica rest area, the communications department explained.
More than 20,000 cars travel through the Kysuce area on a daily basis, with most expected to use the new motorway when it is ready.
"The completion of the D3 motorway will help people in an area that currently suffers from chronic traffic problems. At the same time, it will also help Slovakia to comply with its international commitments under the Trans-European Transport Network," said Filip Machacek, general director of the National Highway Company (NDS).
In early July, NDS also managed to conclude the tender for the middle Kysucke Nove Mesto-Oscadnica D3 section. The public procurement procedure for the Zilina, Brodno-Kysucke Nove Mesto D3 section has not yet been completed, but NDS believes that this could be the case in the course of the next few days.
