Bratislava, 5 August (TASR) - Extra-parliamentary 'Democrats' party leader and former defence minister Jaroslav Nad told reporters on Tuesday that he's testified again at the Police Corps Presidium in connection with the donation of military equipment to Ukraine.
Nad is convinced that no law was broken regarding the matter at hand and that the case will be dropped with a 'no crime has occurred' decision.
"I've testified about the S-300 [air defence system], I've testified about ammunition, and now I've testified about the MiGs," said Nad, describing the police officers' approach as professional and standard.
"I explained everything I knew while also providing some documents that the Defence Ministry claimed it didn't have," he said. According to Nad, donating the equipment to Ukraine was a good move by the-then government.
A special investigation team called 'Donor' (Darca) was formed at the Office for Combating Organised Crime (UBOK) in November 2024. Its formation was instigated by a Supreme Audit Office (NKU) report. The team is tasked with investigating suspicions of illegal actions during the previous election term by former defence ministry representatives and members of the government in connection with the donation of Slovak military equipment worth hundreds of millions of euros to Ukraine. In June, UBOK carried out several detentions and seizures throughout Slovakia. Criminal proceedings were initiated by a prosecutor from the European Public Prosecutor's Office.
