Pezinok/Bratislava, 1 August (TASR) – A judge of the Specialised Criminal Court on Friday sentenced former police investigator Marian K. [name abbreviated due to legal reasons] to five years of house arrest. The verdict is not final, as the prosecutor has filed a complaint against it, court spokesperson Daniel Malis told TASR. The Specialised Criminal Court court had originally found Marian K. guilty of accepting a bribe in 2022. The Supreme Court later handed him a prison sentence of ten years and six months, along with asset forfeiture. However, last year the courts granted his request for a retrial and overturned the original verdict concerning the sentencing. mf
