Bratislava, 31 July (TASR) – Youth organisations, primarily from opposition political parties, have formed a joint platform aimed at restoring young people's trust in society, politics, and the public sphere, chair of Young Freedom and Solidarity and coordinator of the platform Nikolas Prejsa reported on Thursday.
The initiative, named FutureTalks, is open to any other youth organisation wishing to join. It also plans to organise a series of public discussions in Slovak cities.
„At a time when government representatives ridicule Generation Z, systematically ignore its issues, and push it to the margins of public discourse, youth organisations have decided to unite across ideological lines," representatives of the organisations stated.
Founding members of the platform include Young Freedom and Solidarity, Young Progressive Slovakia, Christian Democratic Youth of Slovakia (KDMS), Civic Democratic Youth, Young Democrats – Generation D, and Young Slovakia.
Their aim is to build a strong and respected platform "that will not only be a forum for discussion but also an active player capable of promoting, from a position of strength, the interests of young people in the public sphere, in the media, and with political leaders."
The platform also draws attention to the outflow of young people abroad and their passive approach to public issues.
