Minister Simkovicova Received Kazakh Ambassador to Discuss Cultural Cooperation

Bratislava, 29 July (TASR) - Culture Minister Martina Simkovicova (a Slovak National Party/SNS nominee) received ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan Zhanna Saginova at the Culture Ministry on Monday (28 July 2025), TASR was told by ministry spokesperson Petra Bacinska on Tuesday. The talk focused on specific opportunities for cooperation in areas such as literary translation, the arts and the film industry, discussing the potential for exchanges between artistic groups and other cultural activities that could be of cultural benefit to both countries. Both sides also expressed their pleasure at the growing dynamism of cultural contacts in the field of library and museum cooperation. The meeting also followed the recent official visit of Premier Robert Fico (Smer-SD) to Kazakhstan, during which the initiative of mutual organisation of cultural days was launched. These events aim to contribute to a deeper understanding of the cultural traditions and contemporary artistic life of both nations. "I'm very happy that we can develop cooperation with the Republic of Kazakhstan. I believe that our cultures and our peoples have a lot to offer each other. I look forward to joint projects that will be of cultural benefit to both sides," said Culture Minister Martina Simkovicova. Ambassador Zhanna Saginova praised the current relations between Slovakia and Kazakhstan, highlighting the mutual trust and partnership cooperation, which has been continuously developing since the setting up of diplomatic relations 32 years ago. At the same time, she stressed that Kazakhstan has long perceived Slovakia as a reliable and trustworthy partner, while the interest in expanding contacts also extends to the cultural and creative sectors. am/mcs
