Bratislava, 28 July (TASR) - A session of the parliamentary defence and security committee on the international police action in Ukraine didn't take place on Monday, as not enough MPs attended the session to make the committee quorate. The session was initiated by opposition MPs, who called the way in which Slovakia communicated the action a PR campaign of Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok (Voice-SD). Meanwhile, coalition members of the committee don't see misconduct on the side of authorities. According to MP Irena Bihariova (Progressive Slovakia/PS), the public deserves answers to several questions. She wanted to ask the interior minister and acting Police Corps president Jana Maskarova at the committee about Slovakia's role in the operation and what the agreed communication strategy was between police forces from different countries. Committee vice-chair Tibor Gaspar (Smer-SD) claims that no one in the public currently has enough information to be able to clearly say who was behind the detained young man from Ukraine. The Slovak, Czech and Ukrainian police last week took a joint action in the Ukrainian city of Dnipro in connection with an investigation into bomb threats targeted at Slovak and Czech schools in September 2024. One Ukrainian national was detained during the operation. The Slovak police was the first to inform media about the action. According to media reports, Czech security forces criticised their Slovak colleagues for concealing information about the detained Ukrainian's ties to Russia. ko/mcs
