SaS Prepares with PS and KDH Commission for New Nuclear Power Plant

Bratislava, 24 July (TASR) - The opposition Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) party has been working for a month with other opposition parties Progressive Slovakia (PS) and the Christian Democrats (KDH) to form a commission within the parliamentary committee for economic affairs to look into the planned construction of a new nuclear power plant by American company Westinghouse, MP and SaS energy expert Karol Galek stated in response to various opposition initiatives on the issue. "All MPs may participate in this commission. We'll submit the setting up of the commission to the next regular meeting of the House committee on economic affairs in September," said Galek, adding that Economy Minister Denisa Sakova (Voice-SD) has also declared her cooperation with Parliament. The opposition 'Slovakia' party said earlier on Thursday that it's convening a roundtable discussion of opposition parties on the issue. KDH wants to approach other parliamentary parties to convene an extraordinary parliamentary meeting, at which Premier Robert Fico (Smer-SD) should present this investment. am
