Police Investigating Night-time Conflict in Sered

Sered/Bratislava, 22 July (TASR) – The police are intensively investigating an incident that occurred near a bridge in Sered (Trnava region) on Monday (21 July) night in which a conflict reportedly broke out between a group of soldiers and two individuals, TASR learnt on Tuesday. According to available information, one person was injured. Trnava Region Police reported the case on social media, stating: "The case has been taken over by an investigator, who has initiated criminal proceedings for the offence of bodily harm." As initial investigative steps are still underway, the police said that they could not provide any further details at this time. "We'll share more information as soon as the progress of the investigation allows," they added. According to TV Markiza, the incident took place on M.R. Stefanik Street shortly after 11:00 p.m. and allegedly involved three members of the Slovak armed forces and two unidentified individuals. The altercation reportedly resulted in a serious injury to one of the soldiers. "The armed forces are aware of the reported incident during which professional soldiers were probably assaulted. However, due to the ongoing investigation, we won't be releasing further information at this time," said Stefan Zemanovic, spokesperson for the Slovak armed forces, in a statement to TASR. mf/df
