Vysoke Tatry, 22 July (TASR) - A new boarding area has been created at Strbske Pleso railway station in the High Tatra mountains, specifically on track No. 11, TASR was told by state-run rail-infrastructure operator ZSR's communications department on Tuesday. According to ZSR, thanks to this, there's been a capacity increase by 50 percent, which will significantly contribute towards smoother and more comfortable passenger handling, especially during the tourist season. Transport Minister Jozef Raz (a Smer-SD nominee) attended the opening ceremony on Tuesday. "I'm pleased that we've managed to implement this project, because it will significantly increase the comfort and travelling experience for all passengers. Thanks to the new platform, we can add up to 12 extra trains a day. They will therefore run more frequently, and the influx of tourists, which often made the trains overcrowded in the high season, will be much better distributed," said Raz. "Tatra residents and visitors deserved better travel by public transport. Yes, some people may be bothered by the fare increase, but anyone who looks at it clearly will see that more trains can suddenly fit on the line, and so passengers will no longer experience crowding," said ZSR director general Ivan Bednarik. am/df
