Hygienists Detect New Active Outbreak of Hepatitis A in Lucenec District

Radzovce, 21 July (TASR) - Hygienists have detected a new active outbreak of viral hepatitis A in Lucenec district (Banska Bystrica region), with the disease occurring in the village of Radzovce and related to previous cases in Lucenec district, the Regional Public Health Office in Lucenec posted on its website on Monday. One case of hepatitis A was detected in Radzovce in the past week. "The case was in the age group of 15-19-year-olds and was epidemiologically related to confirmed positive cases for viral hepatitis in the town of Filakovo and the village of Sid [both Lucenec district]," said the office. Hygienists are thus aware of four active outbreaks of the disease in Lucenec district. In recent weeks, 20 cases of hepatitis A have been detected in Filakovo, 13 cases in Sid and one in the village of Tomasovce. am/df
