Court Orders Custody for Ukrainian Charged in Case of Stabbing Incident

Bratislava, 17 July (TASR) - The Bratislava Municipal Court on Wednesday (16 July) decided that an 18-year-old Ukrainian national Artem T. [name abbreviated due to legal reasons], who has been charged with stabbing a 17-year-old youth in the centre of Bratislava, will be remanded in custody, Marianna Stariatova of the Bratislava Regional Court has informed TASR.
The charged person filed a complaint against the verdict, which will be decided by the Bratislava Regional Court.
The court didn't accept the defendant's written promise, didn't replace his detention with the supervision of a probation and mediation officer, and didn't accept the offered financial bail.
The incident took place in the centre of Bratislava on Saturday (12 July) night. At that time unknown offender stabbed the 17-year-old boy in his abdomen before fleeing the scene. The injured youth was taken to hospital following the attack. The police subsequently launched a criminal investigation into the crime of bodily harm. An investigator later pressed charges against 18-year-old Ukrainian national Artem T. for the crime of bodily harm combined with the offence of disorderly conduct.
