Bratislava, 16 July (TASR) - The agriculture and environment parliamentary committee didn't deal with the Gabcikovo waterworks or the Surany (Nitra region) battery plant project on Wednesday, as it wasn't quorate, with not enough MPs attending individual extraordinary meetings. The extraordinary session of the committee to deal with the dispute over the Gabcikovo waterworks was initiated by opposition parties. They expressed their concerns that Hungary would receive electricity for free or at production costs. Therefore, they wanted to ask Environment Minister Tomas Taraba (a Slovak National Party/SNS nominee) about this. The meeting regarding the battery plant in Surany was initiated by the opposition 'Slovakia' party. MP Rastislav Kratky ('Slovakia', For the People and the Christian Union/KU) objected to the project, claiming that the battery plant doesn't meet basic EU standards and violates the law. ko/df
