Bratislava, 16 July (TASR) - A prosecutor has filed a proposal to remand in custody a person who stabbed a 17-year-old boy in the centre of Bratislava at the weekend, TASR has learnt from spokesperson of the Bratislava Regional Prosecutor's Office Gabriela Kovacova.
The proposal will be decided by a pre-trial judge of the Bratislava Municipal Court. The attacker has been charged with the crime of bodily harm combined with the offence of disorderly conduct.
"In the case of the 17-year-old youth stabbed in the centre of Bratislava, a prosecutor of the Bratislava I District Prosecutor's Office filed a motion on Tuesday (15 July) evening to remand Artem T. [name abbreviated due to legal reasons] in an escape and preventive custody, as there are reasonable concerns that he might evade criminal prosecution and continue his criminal activities," said Kovacova.
The suspect was detained on Monday (14 July), less than 24 hours after the incident took place. The perpetrator reportedly stabbed the 17-year-old boy in his abdomen before fleeing the scene. The police subsequently launched a criminal investigation into the crime of bodily harm.
The injured youth was taken to hospital following the attack. The National Institute of Children's Diseases reported on Sunday that the patient has undergone surgery, is out of danger and is in a stable condition.
