Proud of Family March Aimed at Pointing to Importance of Family and Matrimony

Bratislava, 15 July (TASR) - The nation-wide 'Proud of the Family' march, due to take place in the centre of Bratislava on Saturday (19 July), will show that families and marriage matter, its organisers told a news conference on Tuesday dedicated to the agenda and message of the thirteenth annual march. The organisers stressed that the message that the march is supposed to send out remains unchanged this year. "Once again, we want to express our gratitude to mums, dads and close ones for the fact that families exist. It is through this gratitude that we are sending out a message of reconciliation, unity, respect and cooperation in a society that is currently highly polarised," said Marek Nikolov. In this context, he stressed the family's importance in terms of the ability to communicate with each other. "The role of the family is also key in this," he said. The slogan of the thirteenth year of the event is 'Matrimony Protects Children'. According to Anton Chromik, the national 'Proud of the Family' march is an expression that the family and matrimony are the best places in which to raise children. "We do respect the fact that not everyone has the opportunity or has achieved this ideal, but it doesn't mean that we won't strive for it," he stated. The route of the march, leading from Jakubovo Square via Dunajska Street to Dostojevskeho Rad and back to Jakubovo Square has been adapted to suit its smallest participants. Before the start of the march itself at 3 p.m., a holy mass will be held, as well as a discussion dedicated to family values and their anchoring in legislation. ko/df
