Stats: Employment Down in Eight Monitored Sectors Year-on-Year in May

Bratislava, 14 July (TASR) - Employment was higher year-on-year (y-o-y) in only two of the monthly monitored sectors in May 2025 - in accommodation, where it went up by 1.2 percent; and in pubs and restaurants, were it was up by 3 percent, the Statistics Office reported on Monday. The remaining eight sectors posted declines in the number of employees, ranging from 0.1 percent in retail up to 2.7 percent in transport, including warehousing. Overall, in the period from January to May 2025, employment declined year-on-year in a half of the ten sectors monitored, with changes ranging from a 2.4-percent drop in wholesale and in transport including warehousing, up to a 2.3 percent increase in accommodation. ko/df
