Stats: Salaries Rose Y-o-Y across All Sectors in May, Real Growth in Eight

Bratislava, 14 July (TASR) - Nominal monthly salaries increased year-on-year (y-o-y) in all ten monitored sectors in May, with the pace ranging from 0.4 percent in selected market services to 11.2 percent in pubs and restaurants, the Statistics Office reported on Monday. The IT sector posted double-digit growth in nominal salaries in May as well. When considering inflation, real salaries increased y-o-y in eight of the ten sectors, with the most rapid growth of 6 percent being observed in pubs and restaurants, as well as in the IT sector. Conversely, drops in real salaries were posted in industry (-0.4 percent) and in selected market services (-3.6 percent). In the first five months of 2025, meanwhile, salaries increased y-o-y in nominal terms across all ten monitored sectors, and in real terms in eight of them. Real salary growth ranged from 1.2 percent in industry to 4.9 percent in accommodation. After adjusting for inflation, real salaries dropped when compared to last year by 1.3 percent in selected market services and by 0.3 percent in wholesale. ko/df
