Bratislava, 13 July (TASR) – Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok (Voice-SD) has criticized attacks on individuals who chose to join the new National Defense Forces training, calling them incomprehensible.
The Interior Minister expressed appreciation for everyone willing to help their country.
„Instead of being proud that successful people from the field of sports, public life, or government are setting an example, we shame them over a single photo or their determination to serve their homeland. I don’t understand it," Sutaj Estok remarked.
The minister said he has deep respect for all those who decide to prepare themselves to assist during crises. „Anyone willing to dedicate their time and energy to Slovakia’s security deserves gratitude, not insults," he stated, emphasizing that only mutual respect, cooperation, and solidarity can move the country forward.
President Peter Pellegrini is among those participating in the current military training cycle. On Saturday (12 July), SNS leader Andrej Danko called on the President to end the training and return to the Presidential Palace to fulfill his constitutional duties, arguing that Slovakia needs its head of state elsewhere.
Pellegrini responded that patriotism also means being ready to serve the country and encouraged Danko to join the training himself.
