Bratislava, 11 July (TASR) - Slovakia's construction output amounted to €677 million in May 2025, up 2.2 percent year-on-year (y-o-y) in fixed prices, the Statistics Office reported on Friday.
Seasonally adjusted, construction output increased by 0.2 percent from the previous month.
The overall year-on-year increase in domestic construction output was driven only by a 5.2-percent growth in the most significant sector - domestic new construction. Conversely, both smaller components declined, repairs and maintenance construction work by 6.2 percent and other construction work by 3.9 percent. Domestic construction output accounted for 87 percent of total construction output.
Concerning the type of construction, the more dominant construction of buildings slowed down for the fourth consecutive month year-on-year, currently by 2.1 percent. However, work on civil engineering structures, including motorways, increased by almost a tenth.
Meanwhile, the work of Slovak construction companies abroad didn't maintain the double-digit growth rate since the beginning of the year in May and increased by only 5 percent year-on-year.
In the first five months of 2025, construction output amounted to almost €2.8 billion, going up by 2.3 percent y-o-y. This positive result was achieved thanks to the dynamically growing work of construction firms abroad and a slight increase in the dominant new construction sector.
