Kosice, 10 July (TASR) - The opposition Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) party at a briefing in Kosice on Thursday criticised the government for approving a plan to draw up a new vision for Slovakia's development until 2040 and has called it another example of non-conceptual governing.
The party pointed out that Slovakia already has a valid strategic document, which was created under the previous cabinet and was approved in 2021.
"The government has an approved Vision and Strategy for the Development of Slovakia until 2030 on its desk. Dozens of experts worked on its preparation, regions were involved, public discussions were held and the process took more than two years. This document cost €3 million, but the government is doing nothing with it," said SaS MP Vladimir Ledecky.
The opposition party called on the government to start implementing the existing strategy, to stop "wasting public money on useless new documents" and to show respect for experts, regions and work that has already been paid for.
According to SaS, the problem is not a lack of strategies, but the fact that the government systematically ignores them.
The government approved the aforementioned plan last week. Slovakia should thus have a document that will determine the direction of the country for the next 15 years. According to the document, Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) should submit draft starting points and a procedure to draw up the document to the cabinet by the end of September.
