President Interested in Funds and Project Support at Meeting with Simkovicova

Bratislava, 8 July (TASR) - President Peter Pellegrini received Culture Minister Martina Simkovicova (a Slovak National Party/SNS nominee) at the Presidential Palace on Tuesday, asking her about support for key projects in Slovakia, TASR has been told by the President Office's communications department. Pellegrini was interested in the functioning of cultural support funds and the financing of large cultural events, including festivals. He also raised the issue of support for minority culture and the options for accelerating and streamlining it. "It was a very pleasant discussion, about how culture is progressing, how our key institutions are progressing," said Simkovicova, when describing her meeting with the head of state to journalists. The President's Office pointed out that in recent weeks Pellegrini has received the directors of three cultural and media institutions - the Slovak National Theatre, the Slovak National Gallery and Slovak Television and Radio. am/df
