Bratislava, 8 July (TASR) - In response to Monday’s (7 July) windstorm in eastern Slovakia, Labour, Social Affairs and Family Minister Erik Tomas (Voice-SD) announced plans to provide humanitarian aid on Tuesday.
„We will provide humanitarian aid to households, towns, and villages affected by the windstorm in eastern Slovakia. Staff of the job centres in the impacted districts have already been deployed to the field," the minister stated.
House Chair Richard Rasi (Voice-SD) also expressed concern over the severe weather and its consequences. „Torn-off roofs, flooded homes, and fallen trees blocking roads are only part of the dramatic situation many communities are facing. People have lost what they built over years," he wrote on social media. He called for swift assistance and solidarity within communities, and thanked emergency responders.
Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok (Voice-SD) assured residents in affected areas that help is on the way. According to him, all rescue and police units are fully deployed and assisting people in the eastern part of the country.
Eastern Slovakia was hit by strong winds and heavy rain on Monday, causing widespread property damage, infrastructure disruption, and transportation issues. Several areas declared a state of emergency due to the severe weather conditions.
