Sturovo/Bratislava, 7 July (TASR) – All outdoor pools at the Vadas Thermal Resort in Sturovo (Nitra region) have been approved for use by the Regional Public Health Authority in Nove Zamky following laboratory tests that confirmed the water is free of thermotolerant amoebas, TASR learnt on Monday. Regional hygienist Juraj Benko confirmed the decision, which was based on results from water samples collected during a follow-up inspection. The samples, taken on 30 June, followed measures implemented by the pool operator to restore the required water quality. Additional testing will be carried out during the normal operation of the resort in order to continue monitoring for the presence of amoebas, added Benko. The Vadas thermal baths will reopen to the public on Tuesday, July 8, according to resort spokesperson Livia Nemeth. Guests already staying at the resort will have access to the pools as of Monday, weather permitting, she noted. The case made national headlines after an 11-year-old boy, who had visited the pool, died later due to infection by the parasite. mf/df
