Trnava Region: Firefighters Busy after Adverse Weather

Trnava, 7 July (TASR) - The adverse weather at the end of the weekend prompted 56 firefighter call-outs in Trnava Region by Monday morning, with the highest number of incidents reported in the Senica and Skalica districts, Peter Celiga from the Regional Directorate of the Fire and Emergency Corps in Trnava has confirmed for TASR. "The work mainly involved removing fallen trees from roads, [dealing with] uprooted trees that threatened pedestrians on pavements, clearing trees from vehicles, repairing weather-damaged power lines, and extinguishing a tree fire caused by a lightning strike," said Celiga. In total, 25 professional firefighters and 126 members of local volunteer fire brigades took part in the clear-up work. mf/df
