Firefighters and Defence Ministry Helicopter Respond to Richnava Forest Fire

Richnava, 5 July (TASR) - Firefighters intervened at a forest fire in Richnava (Kosice region) on Saturday afternoon, managed to stop the uncontrollable spread of fire from the upper side, and are currently extinguishing it in the direction of the wind, TASR learnt from the Fire and Rescue Corps' social media statement on the same day. The fire area is approximately 500 by 200 metres. „A Defence Ministry helicopter is on site and will make several drops [of water] today. Forces and equipment are being prepared on site so that firefighting operations can continue at night if necessary," the statement read. Along with professional firefighters, 15 volunteer firefighters are assisting at the scene. A ground firefighting unit from the East module is heading there as well. lin
