Academy of Slovak Armed Forces Celebrates 92 New Lieutenants

Liptovsky Mikulas, 4 July (TASR) - A graduation ceremony for 92 master's degree graduates took place on the premises of the the Milan Rastislav Stefanik Armed Forces Academy (AOS) in Liptovsky Mikulas (Zilina region) on Friday, TASR learnt from Erika Szuperakova from the AOS Rector's Office on the same day.
"The students of the academy graduated from four departments: security and defence of the state, electronic weapon systems, military communication and information systems, and weapons and their parts," said Szuperakova, adding that 22 women were among the graduates this year.
The soldiers were commissioned into their first officer rank - lieutenant.
Slovak President Peter Pellegrini addressed the graduates at the ceremony. "As Commander-in-Chief of the Slovak Armed Forces, I would like to commend your decision to dedicate your life to the service of your homeland, its defence and the protection of its people's security. Love for Slovakia, respect for its history, culture, values and people are undoubtedly among the strongest motives that have led you here," Pellegrini told the graduates.
