Bratislava, 3 July (TASR) - Slovakia and Ireland continue to develop quality bilateral relations through an active political dialogue with an emphasis on new areas of economic and investment cooperation, while finding similar positions on key European issues, Foreign Ministry State Secretary Marek Estok stated on Thursday following a meeting with Irish ambassador to Slovakia Dermot McGauran held on the occasion of the end of his diplomatic mission in Bratislava, TASR was told by the ministry's communications department. The good level of Slovak-Irish relations was confirmed earlier this year by Foreign and European Affairs Minister Juraj Blanar's (Smer-SD) visit to Dublin. The state secretary thanked the Irish ambassador for his personal commitment and active approach leading to the strengthening of cooperation, intensified political dialogue and positive development of several areas of common interest. "Slovakia and Ireland are open and export-oriented countries. Our mutual trade is continuously growing and currently exceeds €700 million. We want to maintain this trend and therefore we're looking for new areas to boost our economic cooperation, taking full advantage of the potential of the European single market," said Estok. am
