Bratislava, 3 July (TASR) - State-run rail infrastructure operator ZSR has obtained almost €130 million from the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) for the implementation of two investment projects, ZSR spokeswoman Petra Lanikova reported on Thursday.
The first one is the modernisation of the Zilina-Kosice railway line in the Vydrnik-Spisska Nova Ves section. The second project supported from the CEF will be the preparation of the railway connection Kosice-Cierna nad Tisou-state border with Ukraine.
"I consider it to be a great success of Slovakia, as we were able to prepare such meaningful projects with the help of the Transport Ministry that instead of one twenty-seventh of the envelope for the infrastructure modernization of the main lines in the total amount of €1.08 billion, we received the funds in the equivalent of one eighth," said ZSR director general Ivan Bednarik.
