SHMU: Thunderstorms and Stronger Winds May Occur in West of Slovakia in Evening

Bratislava, 3 July (TASR) - Thunderstorms may arrive in western Slovakia in the evening, the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMU) reported on its website, adding that there will be stronger winds in the southwest in the evening and during the night. SHMU therefore issued a first level alert. High temperature alerts are still in place in most of the territory until 8 p.m. Thunderstorms may occur in the whole of Bratislava region and in most of Trnava and Trencin regions. Thunderstorms may also appear in the districts of Topolcany (Nitra region), Bytca, Zilina, Cadca and Kysucke Nove Mesto (all Zilina region). Thunderstorms may be associated with heavy downpours with an intensity of 20-30 millimetres of rain per half an hour, with hail and wind gusts of 65-85 kilometres per hour. am
