Bratislava, 27 June (TASR) - Defence Minister Robert Kalinak (Smer-SD) is relatively satisfied with the price of the bid for the development and modernisation of the J. A. Reiman University Hospital in Presov. The successful bidder was a group of contractors called BEKOR, which offered a price of over €451.11 million, ex-VAT, according to the announcement on the result of the evaluation of bids. The second bidder was a group of contractors called Nemocnica Presov, which offered a price exceeding €476.59 million. The lowest price was decisive. The estimated value of the contract was €360 million, ex-VAT. Kalinak stated that the amount of around €460 million was expected, adding that several things had changed since the project was first presented. For example, the emergency reception has been modified, there has been an increase in machinery and other technologies. "We had to proceed to make the hospital one floor higher. For the convenience of patients and employees, we had to expand the parking house, so 20,000 square metres were added," Kalinak told TASR. The new hospital is to be an end-type medical facility with a total number of 1,009 beds and the option to fully reprofile 1,200 beds. The construction work started last year, and, according to the schedule, it should be built by 2027. The project is being implemented as a strategic investment. am/mcs
