Bratislava, 27 June (TASR) - President Peter Pellegrini didn't sign the law on the support for priority districts and returned it to Parliament with a comment for re-discussion, President's Office told TASR on Friday, adding that the problem is the additions to the law, which may be in conflict with the Constitution and the head of state proposed to delete them from the law.
"The head of state's comment doesn't concern the change in the system of assessing priority districts, which the state rightly pays increased attention to, but the addition to this law, which amended the Act on Municipalities and the Land Registry Act. According to an expert opinion of the President's Office, the articles in question are likely to be in breach of the Constitution, and therefore the President has proposed to delete them from the approved law on the support for priority districts," said the office.
According to the authors, the amendment to the laws on municipalities and on land registry was intended to help the government resolve disputes between municipalities over their boundaries.
