Zilina, 24 June (TASR) - More than 12,000 households in central Slovakia are without electricity on Tuesday morning, TASR was told by Stredoslovenska distribucna power utility (SSD) spokesman Miroslav Gejdos on Tuesday. Electricians register 23 faults at the high voltage level and about 80 faults at the low voltage level. About 160 distribution substations are out of service. The situation is worst in the Upper Nitra and Turiec areas. "Most of the complications were caused by trees falling on the overhead lines. Our employees have been in the field since Monday (23 June) evening and are working to restore the power supply," said Gejdos. Thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds caused massive power outages in almost all areas of central Slovakia during the night from Monday to Tuesday. Almost 50,000 households were without electricity on Monday night. am
