Bratislava, 23 June (TASR) - The construction office in Bratislava’s Ruzinov borough issued a building permit for the Terchovska municipal apartment building in June, which is not yet legally binding, TASR has learnt from Ruzinov mayor Martin Chren.
This is the second rental apartment building planned by the city.
The Terchovska apartment building is planned as a residential complex with eight structures and a basement. The buildings will be located on a triangular plot between Terchovska, Galvaniho, and Banselova streets. The total capacity is expected to be 85 apartments and 137 parking spaces, 90 of which will be underground. A sidewalk, bike path, and greenery are also planned.
Bratislava has long faced a severe shortage of rental housing and is working to expand its stock of municipal rental apartments. In 2022, the city presented a plan to add around 1,600 such apartments within five years through new construction, zoning changes, cooperation with developers, and renovation of neglected city-owned units.
The first municipal rental apartment building was constructed by the city on Muchovo Square in Bratislava’s Petrzalka borough, adding 103 apartments to the municipal housing stock. A second building with approximately 50 additional rental units is planned nearby as part of the project’s second phase. Other projects are also in development, such as on Zitavska Street in the Vrakuna borough.
