Sutaj Estok: US Attack on Iran Will Bring Huge Tensions in the World

(JOJ 24,'Politika 24', 22 June) The US attack on Iran will bring huge security tensions in the world, Voice-SD leader and Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok said on JOJ 24's discussion programme 'Politika 24' (Politics 24) on Sunday, stressing the need to look at national security, such as the renewal of civil defence shelters, in the context of defence investments. "I am very sorry for what's happening in the world, the word 'peace' is actually a huge rarity, and I'm not talking only about Ukraine now, I am also talking about the Middle East. The latest events are extremely serious and dangerous in terms of the potential escalation of this global conflict," said the minister. Sutaj Estok views Premier Robert Fico's (Smer-SD) statements about Slovakia's neutrality as the expression of his personal opinion. He also stated that Voice-SD is aware of the importance of defence investments. "I'm not talking about tanks or fighter jets now (...) We need bridges to be reconstructed, we need hospitals to be built here, we need to look at our internal security. If something happens, 96 percent of civil protection shelters are in an unusable condition today," he noted. He announced that his ministry will come up with an audit of civil protection and a ten-year plan for the comprehensive revitalisation of shelters in September. ko
