Ministry: 'Become Police Officer' Recruitment Campaign Reaches Record Numbers

Bratislava, 22 June (TASR) - A total of 4,635 applicants filled in an online form over the three months (13 March-13 June) of a recruitment campaign called 'Become a Police Officer'.
"This is more than in the whole year 2024, when less than 4,500 applications were received," stated the Interior Ministry, which evaluates the recruitment campaign as successful and sees the record numbers as confirmation that interest in working in the police has increased.
Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok (Voice-SD) believes that the public's interest is also a reflection of the ministry's previous stabilisation measures and an increase in trust in the police. "As a result, people want to be part of it," believes the minister.
According to the forms completed, the campaign reached a wide range of interested parties, including members of other security forces, often with extensive experience and officer ranks. "The ministry therefore treats each application individually," stated Sutaj Estok, adding that most of the applicants have already passed the admission procedures to the police secondary vocational schools, where most of the registrations are directed.
The campaign is part of the ministry's wider strategy to strengthen the Police Corps, which has a shortfall of 3,630 officers as of 1 June 2025.
