Bratislava/Ljubljana, 20 June (TASR) - Slovak President Peter Pellegrini met with Slovak compatriots in Ljubljana, where he was welcomed by Slovak Ambassador Peter Bak, and praised the many successful Slovaks living in Slovenia who have established themselves in the management of major companies. "People who live abroad, including here in Slovenia, are our small ambassadors and envoys, because they spread a good reputation about our country. (...) Slovaks today truly represent significant figures in their respective countries. I'm very pleased that even in Slovenia, we have people in the management of major companies," the president noted during his meeting with compatriots. President Pellegrini praised the success of his visit to Slovenia, highlighting cooperation between the two countries and suggesting that Slovakia could take inspiration from Slovenia’s strong approach to tourism promotion. Pellegrini also praised the partnership between the two countries in the paper industry. “Mr. Milan Filo is here [a businessman investing in Slovenia – ed. note]. Yesterday, we had the opportunity to speak with him and the Slovenian Prime Minister, and it's simply a success story — the large paper factory Paloma, which is a well-known brand not only in Slovenia but also in the surrounding region,” he explained. The president departed on Thursday (June 19) for a two-day working visit to Slovenia, where he held talks with Slovenian President Natasa Pirc Musar, Vice-President of the National Assembly Meira Hot, and Prime Minister Robert Golob. Discussions focused on security issues and preparations for the upcoming NATO summit in The Hague, as well as the automotive industry, tourism, and support for the integration of Western Balkan countries into the European Union. lin/mcs
