Kezmarok, 20 June (TASR) - With support from the local community, the town of Kezmarok (Presov region) provided immediate assistance to two families affected by Thursday’s (June 19) fire on Tovarenska Street and declared its readiness to offer further help if needed, TASR has learnt from the town’s head of communications Jarka Hlavacova.
One family was temporarily housed in a hotel at the town’s expense, while the other received a two-room municipal flat, which the town is now furnishing in cooperation with a partner NGO to ensure basic living conditions.
The city thanks everyone who took part in the rescue efforts and provided assistance. “In moments like these, it once again became clear that Kezmarok is a town with a big heart and a deep sense of solidarity,” said Mayor Jan Ferencak.
A fire at family houses on Tovarenska Street in Kezmarok was reported shortly after 11.00 a.m. on Thursday. The fire affected the roofs of terraced houses. No one was injured in the fire. The preliminary estimated property damage is approximately €190,000.
