Bratislava, 19 June (TASR) - The Bratislava I District Court sentenced Yassin G., known as a fake plastic surgeon, to three years in prison on Thursday under minimum security for multiple counts of bodily harm, with some victims awarded compensation while others were referred to a civil court.
The verdict isn't final, as both the prosecutor and the defendant have appealed the sentencing decision.
According to the indictment, Yassin G. performed several unprofessional surgical procedures without the necessary permits, carrying them out in unhygienic conditions, without general anaesthesia, and causing patients serious medical complications and even damage to their health.
In the past, the fake surgeon was convicted in Vienna for fraudulent practices. After leaving Slovakia, he worked in a medical facility in Vienna without obtaining the necessary registration.
The Adelais Clinique in Bratislava, where he previously worked, had its operations halted by the Bratislava Self-Governing Region (BSK) in 2016 because it lacked the necessary permits. At that time, administrative proceedings were also initiated against the clinic. BSK also referred the cases of several dissatisfied patients to the police.
