Bratislava, 18 June (TASR) - Year-on-year (y-o-y) inflation measured by the EU's Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) intensified its growth to 4.3 percent in May and was also higher than the rate measured by national methodology (4.1 percent), the Statistics Office reported on Wednesday.
In a monthly comparison, consumer prices measured by HICP rose by 0.5 percent in May.
In a y-o-y comparison, prices grew in all 12 segments, with the growth ranging from 0.1 percent in transport up to 10.2 percent in education. Concerning monthly developments, prices rose in nine of the 12 monitored segments, with prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages having the biggest impact of 1.3 percent. Conversely, a 1.2-percent price drop in transport contributed most to slackening of the monthly inflation.
The average harmonised inflation rate for the 12-month period ending in May 2025 amounted to 3.6 percent.
