Judicial Council Fails to Elect All Candidates for ECHR Judge

17. júna 2025 18:02
Bratislava, 17 June (TASR) - At its meeting on Tuesday, the Judicial Council elected two of three candidates for the post of judge of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), namely Branislav Jablonka and Ondrej Laciak. The council didn't elect current European prosecutor Juraj Novocky. Judicial Council head Marcela Kosova must therefore announce a new election, but only for one candidate. The council can only submit a proposal to the government after three candidates have been elected. Subsequently, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe is to elect a new ECHR judge for Slovakia from a list of three candidates submitted by the Slovak government. am/df
