Bratislava, 17 June (TASR) - The coalition Slovak National Party (SNS) doesn't want the amendment to the Constitution to be put to a vote on Tuesday because it isn't certain whether the necessary number of votes will be obtained to adopt it, SNS head and Parliamentary vice-chair Andrej Danko stated at a press conference on Tuesday.
"We can see that some MPs are already publicly stating that they won't vote, [so] this would be the best solution. We think that this is a very important amendment to the Constitution," he said, reiterating that only men can be fathers and only women can be mothers. He accused Progressive Slovakia (PS) of having "sick" views on who can have a child and spoke of a sick age in which basic values are being rejected. "In addition to its liberalism, the European Union is pushing us into a corner in terms of values," stated Danko, stressing that no one wants to attack minority groups or people who live in cohabitation.
