Matovic: Content of Government's Amendment to Constitution Agenda of KDH

Bratislava, 16 June (TASR) - The content of the government's amendment to the Constitution is the agenda of the Christian Democrats (KDH), and the party shouldn't be denigrated for voting with Smer-SD, said leader of the opposition 'Slovakia' party and MP Igor Matovic ('Slovakia', 'For the People', KU caucus) in Parliament on Monday.
The 'Slovakia' party won't vote for the amendment to the constitutional amendment because it considers it to be a fake play by Premier Robert Fico (Smer-SD). It respects the decision of Christian Union (KU) MPs, who want to vote in favour.
"I don't find it honest for us to lynch someone here just because they've decided to support their own agenda," said Matovic, claiming that after the amending drafts, the amendment to the Constitution isn't Fico's proposal, but that of KDH. Matovic also stated that the world won't collapse because the proposal has been approved and that there is no need to frighten people with this amendment.
The opposition MP also criticised the SaS party for calling on KDH not to vote for the constitutional amendment. The former premier reminded the party that it voted together with Smer-SD to topple his government. He asked Progressive Slovakia (PS) whether it wouldn't vote for Fico's proposal if it would introduce registered partnerships in Slovakia.
